How to Play

The Resistance: Avalon

Knights of Arthur take on three quests, but Mordred's minions have slipped into the ranks to sabotage them. Merlin secretly knows who the minions are and has to steer good without tipping his hand, because if the Assassin fingers him at the end, evil wins anyway.

Overview

The Resistance: Avalon is a standalone game in The Resistance line. Five to ten players are secretly split into good (Loyal Servants of Arthur) and evil (Minions of Mordred). Across a series of quests, a rotating leader proposes a team, everyone votes openly to approve or reject it, and the approved team members secretly play Success or Fail cards. Good wins by succeeding at three quests. Evil wins by failing three, by getting five team proposals rejected in one round, or, even after good completes its three quests, by having the Assassin correctly name Merlin. Special characters like Merlin, Percival, Morgana, Mordred, Oberon, and the Assassin each learn (or stay blind to) different secrets during an eyes-closed setup that any player or app can read aloud.

Teams & how to win

Loyal Servants of Arthur

Good

The good faction. Most are ordinary Loyal Servants with no special knowledge. Merlin and Percival hold secret information. Good players don't know who else is good, apart from the limited read Percival gets on Merlin.

WinComplete three quests, then survive the Assassin's attempt to identify Merlin. Once good finishes its third quest, the Assassin gets one shot at naming Merlin, and good only wins if that guess is wrong.

Minions of Mordred

Evil

The evil faction. Every evil player except Oberon learns the others during the reveal. They sabotage quests by slipping in Fail cards while staying hidden, and one of them, the Assassin, works out who Merlin is.

WinFail three quests, or get five team proposals rejected in a single round on the vote track. Failing that, if good completes its three quests, win by having the Assassin correctly name Merlin.
