A Resistance cell needs 3 clean missions to bring down a corrupt regime, but Imperial Spies have wormed their way into the ranks. The Spies win by sabotaging missions or jamming the group up until it falls apart on its own.
The Resistance is a game of teamwork and betrayal for 5 to 10 players. Everyone is secretly sorted into a Resistance majority fighting a corrupt regime and a hidden minority of Imperial Spies planted among them. Round after round, a rotating leader proposes a team for a mission and everyone votes out in the open to approve or reject it. If the team goes, its members secretly play Success or Sabotage cards. Resistance Operatives can only play Success, but a Spy can quietly drop in a Sabotage to sink the mission. The Resistance wins by landing 3 clean missions, and the Spies win by botching 3. Since the Spies know each other from the start and the Resistance doesn't, the whole game turns on reading vote patterns, mission results, and the way people behave. And if five proposals get rejected in a single round, the momentum tips to the Spies and they take it. No moderator required; an app can run it.
The freedom-fighter majority. Resistance members start out blind to each other and have to work out who's trustworthy from proposals, votes, and how missions turn out.
WinSuccessfully complete 3 missions (3 missions that pass with no Sabotage card played).
The hidden minority planted inside the Resistance. Spies know every other Spy from the start and work together to wreck missions without getting caught.
WinSink 3 missions, each killed by at least one Sabotage card. Failing that, force five straight team proposals to be rejected in a single round.
Pass the leader token one seat to the left to begin the next team proposal.
Tally the open Approve/Reject votes and record whether the proposed team is sent on the mission.
Reveal and shuffle the submitted mission cards and record the mission as a success or a failure.
Advance the proposal-rejection track when a team is rejected; five rejections in a round ends the game for the Spies.
